Vegetables Are A Myth

About the Pod

Who ARE You?

Welcome to Vegetables Are A Myth

The podcast where we pull back the leaves (and sometimes the curtain) on what’s really on your plate. Spoiler: there’s no such thing as a vegetable — just roots, shoots, fruits, and a whole lot of myths we love to bust. Hosted by Jennifer Westfall and JD Strong, partners in life and in the kitchen, we mix a dash of science, a sprinkle of humor, and a whole lot of good food talk. Each episode serves up one myth-busting fact and one recipe we actually cooked (and ate), complete with the nutrition wins behind it. Think of it as your weekly snack of knowledge — tasty, filling, and never boring.

Our Story

Meet Jennifer

The resident myth-buster with a science streak. I earned my degree in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Washington State University, and I’m currently working on my Master’s in Nutrition, Healthspan, and Longevity at USC. Translation: I spend a lot of time geeking out about how food fuels our bodies, how we age, and how we can make eating both healthier and more fun. On the podcast, I’m the one untangling the science, breaking it down into plain English, and reminding you that vegetables don’t actually exist (but yes, you still need to eat your greens).

Meet JD

Equal parts curious eater, kitchen experimenter, sourdough bread baker, and Mac Admin. By day, I wrangle tech, community projects, and the MacDevOps Conference; by night (and podcast recording time), I’m Jennifer’s partner-in-crime, asking the “Wait, is that really true?” questions. I keep the conversation lively, occasionally cheeky, and always grounded in real life — because if the science can’t make sense at the dinner table, what good is it?
